The Wait for Full Restoration is Over!

In December 2009, my world fell apart once again but this time so much more was at stake. The man I married for life had another set back mentally. And this time with his unwillingness to submit to medical help and how dangerous it was it proved to be the beginning of the final breakdown in our marriage. When I married him a 2nd time and yes I said 2nd time, I honestly believed we would last forever no matter what. I was willing… because that’s what love does. Yet here we were 10yrs later, again at the beginning stages of what would be another divorce. This time: our last one. Ten months later it was finally done. I wish I could say although the marriage had been rocky the divorce wasn’t but that would break our record of nothing simple. Our divorce was a process that introduced me to migraines and heartache I thought I’d never get over. Not to mention legal debt that I didn’t foresee. Finally on Oct 2010, I stood before a judge with my lawyer and his and it was declared over and I was restored to my maiden name. Then surprisingly the judge took the time to personally address me from the bench and say to me “Ms Miller this is the best thing you could have done for your children…” I remember thinking WOW as my lawyer walked me to the hall way and stopped to tell me she has never heard a judge say that to anyone.

Although my name was “restored” during my divorce, I found it that I still had to go to the social security office and DMV to complete the process. Because going to either of those entities is always a painfully long wait, I put it off. I thought hmmm I’ll just go by Miller-Nolan until I get it resolved. Ironically how many things do we prolong because of “inconvenience”? On this week I finally conquered them both, FIVE years later. Why am I blogging about it? At first it was going to be because I was feeling some kind of way. Then I realized I conquered a stronghold. The reason a woman takes on the last name of her husband is because the last name represents who is responsible for her. When she marries, she is no longer her father’s responsibility but the husband so she has a name change. When the judge completed my name change in my divorce he specifically said “you are now restored to your maiden name.” When he said it I felt the shift in the atmosphere: restoration. Yet, when I left I was detoured by the inconvenience to complete my portion of the process to have my full restoration, so much so I waited 4yrs and 8 months later to be exact, to complete my part of the process! I can’t get distracted with thoughts of what all have I missed by accepting a partial restoration? However, I can attest that immediately doors began to open and favor and blessings began to pour in as soon as I did my part.

What are you putting off because it’s inconvenient? Whatever it is I challenge you to get
up enough gumph and do your part. God’s part is always sure! However if we’re not careful we cause delays and frustrations that could be avoided. The longer we allow things that we shouldn’t allow it has a stronger hold on us but we have the power to break every strong hold in our lives by deciding and doing what we know we are to do. I have nothing against the Nolan name. My children are Nolan’s, truth be told I will always love the Nolan’s, however I had to accept and walk in my shift. My ex husband is no longer responsible for me. My Father in Heaven is, and He had me born in the name of Miller. Why reject my birthright? Grant it someone else may not have this conviction about their last name and that’s fine, but I had specific instructions that I needed to fully follow. I am glad to say I have now obeyed and the wait for my full restoration is finally over! Look out world, I’m about to walk fully in my destiny, in Jesus name. I pray you walk in yours, however that looks for you.
